KINO Cinema & Café
Second Project was founded by two enthusiastic artists: Annamária Láng, actress and director, and Fruzsina Nagy, costume designer and visual creator. They have produced three performances together so far, and are planning several more in the future. Real life, space and people often inspire their work. They transform the surrounding reality into interesting, visually exciting "fiction", using new artistic media combined with classical theatrical gestures, creating a strange, unexpected effect on stage. They place great emphasis on music and the visual effect of their work, and cooperate with video artists, composers, choreographers and writers, expanding their creative group, working on the projects as a team.
It was in this kind of team spirit that their first performance PestiEsti was presented in 2007 in Trafó with the actors of Krétakör Theater. PestiEsti was inspired by the city of Budapest and its most popular nightlife magazine, and used special video technique, live blue-box and extreme costumes. Made in China was their second project, based on the true story of a Chinese woman living in Budapest. Contemporary acoustic sounds completed the monodrama style acting. Their third and most recent project is SYD, a concert-theatre with an imaginary black singer, for whom they created a whole life-image, with fake documentary photos and home video, talk shows and skype videos.
During these three projects, Second Project started to expand and was joined by several permanent members, such as András Vinnai (writer) and András Juhász (video artist). The aim is to continue producing fresh, experimental projects, which combine different artistic fields, reflect on serious and relevant issues and re-interpret the boundaries of theatre.
At present Second Project is working on a new production based on the idea of "sneaking into people's lives" by projecting their homes (interiors) onto the facades of houses and buildings. Annamária and Fruzsina are interested in working with artists from countries other than Hungary on this project and in developing it as an international production that could be performed in different cities, always adapting it to specific places and contexts.
